704 Home: A Unique Design Store

Creating an Urban and Sustainable Shopping Experience

Inspired by the vibrant brand 704 Home, designer Paula Werneck has created a one-of-a-kind design store that showcases the essence of the brand's identity. With a focus on sustainability and urban aesthetics, this pop-up store offers a unique shopping experience for customers.

The design of the 704 Home store was driven by the brand's cool, urban, and sustainable ethos. Every aspect of the interior design sought to translate the brand's identity, using different textures, colors, and urban materials such as concrete, copper, pinus wood, and glass. The objective was to create a neutral base that would highlight the diversity of each product, allowing them to stand out in their own right.

One of the standout features of the store is the flooring, which combines a cement base with a colored wood floor. This combination reflects the young and cool side of the brand, creating a neutral atmosphere that is colored by the various products on display. The shop window was designed to simulate a street store, bringing an urban feeling into the shopping mall and enticing passersby to step inside.

The realization of the design involved the use of various materials and techniques. The floor was handmade on-site, with cement mixed with painted wood pieces. The walls feature cement bricks and polystyrene moldings that simulate classic wooden moldings. The store sign, made from laser-cut MDF, hangs from the ceiling, while the shelves are created from pinus wood and structured with PVC pipes painted with colorjet cooper, resulting in a low-cost yet visually striking design.

The 704 Home store occupies a 30sqm space with a 3m high ceiling. Its location within a shopping mall allows for interaction with the public, who are greeted with the impression of being outside due to the unique window design. Inside the store, customers can explore three different spots: a living room, a dining room, and a bedroom. The intention is to create an environment where customers can lose track of time, trying out different combinations of home items as if they were in their own homes. The store experience aims to make everyone feel at home.

The design project for the 704 Home store started in August 2017, and the store opened to the public in October of the same year. The tight timeline and strict budget necessitated a creative and low-cost approach. The use of materials such as pinus wood and PVC pipes helped to reduce costs while still maintaining the brand's urban and sustainable identity.

The 704 Home store design was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design of the 704 Home store stood out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.

With its urban and sustainable aesthetic, the 704 Home design store offers a unique and immersive shopping experience. From the carefully chosen materials to the inviting interior spaces, every aspect of the design reflects the brand's identity and invites customers to explore and engage with the products on display.
